CPI Skips Kerala Cabinet meet by Thomas Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram : The CPI has boycotted the weekly Cabinet meeting where embattled transport minister Thomas Chandy is also likely to be present. The meeting began a short while ago at Secretariat in Thiruvananthpuram on Wednesday. The CPI is under tremendous pressure for the resignation of the NCP leader,who is facing encroachment allegations, after the High court dismissed his petition against Alappuzha District Collector’s report on land encroachment.

The CM will take a call on the resignation of Transport Minister Thomas Chandy, who is facing encroachment allegations, after getting a copy of the high court judgement. This was stated by Chandy after a nearly 40 minute meeting with Vijayan at Cliff House,the CM’s official residence ths morning. The kerala High court on Tuesday dismissed a petition by Transport Minister Thomas Chandy challenging a report by the Alappuzha Collector on the alleged encroachments by a company in which he has a stake. Responding to the High Court verdict, Chandy said Tuesday that he would quit if the observation against him is in the signed verdict of the high Court. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that an ‘appropriate decision’ would be taken at the right time after examining the HC order and the NCP’s decision
