New Delhi : Rio Olympic silver-medalist PV Sindhu has made it to the final of the Dubai World Super Series Finals after defeating China's Chen Yufei in the last-four clash. The ace Indian shuttler defeated her Chinese counterpart in straight games 21-15, 21-18 in a contest that lasted 58 minutes.
The Indian shuttler, who is unbeaten thus far in the tournament, will now take on Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the summit clash today (December 17). Interestingly, on day three of the tournament, Sindhu eased past Yamaguchi 21-9, 21-13 in the last group stage fixture.
Courtesy her win over Yamaguchi, Sindhu finished at the top of Group A in the women's singles. Meanwhile, this was the sixth meeting between Sindhu and Chen Yufei. The 22-year-old has won all her three group matches of the tournament. In her opening match, the Indian thrashed China's He Bingjao 21-11, 16-21, 21-18 and followed that up with a 21-13, 21-12 win against Japan's Sayako Sato in the second match.
Sindhu has already won India and Korea Open Super Series at the start of the season, while she has grabbed silver at Glasgow World Championship and Hong Kong Open.
