Kerala finds robots to clean sewers

Kerala :  Manual scavening ,an abominable practise that claims several lives across the country every year, is going to be a past thing ,as the Kerala Government is procuring 50 robots which are developed to clean sewer holes. Manual scavening is a caste - based occupation mainly involving cleaning septic tanks, sewers and gutters. Despite legal bans, the dehumanising practise continues in country .According to one estimate more than 1200  people died from manual scavening related activities between 2014 and 2016 in the country. Apart from sewer lines, the robots can also be pressed into service for other under water activities.
