Sharif convicts to resign as prime minister

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been convicted by the Pakistan Supreme Court for his role in the corruption case. The court ruled that the prime minister's position should be resigned immediately. With the proven conviction, Sharif will have a criminal case against him. A five-member bench of the court has unanimously announced the case. Sharif and his family members came out of the Panama line illegally abroad while being Prime Minister in the 1990s.Through Moser Fonseka, the daughter and sons of Sharif - Mariam, Hassan and Hussain, allegedly bought properties in London.

Pakistan will have to face the by-election after Sharif is found guilty. In this context, there is a possibility that military leadership can influence the use of this opportunity.
