NEWDELHI : The Supreme Court rejected the plea seeking a CBI probe in the bar bribery scam in which former financer minister K M Mani is an accused. The court clarified that it cannot intervene in a case which is being investigated by the vigilance. The court also said that it can be informed at a later stage, if there is any lapse in the investigation. The SC bench took the decision on the plea submitted by BJP state committee member Noble Mathew. Noble Mathew had alleged that the vigilance has no interest in Prosecuting Mani and hence investigation needs to be handed over to the CBI.
Mean while, K M Mani responded by saying that the SC’s ruling was welcome and a relief.
