152 more bars to be opened in kerala

Kozhikode: With the Supreme Court ruling, 152 more bars will be opened in the state. Excise Minister T P Ramakrishan said the procedures for it will start by this week. The minister said the bars are allowed to open after the supreme court verdict.

The apex court had last month ordered that the government can decide whether they can open liquor shops deciding the status of panchayats passing through the national and state highways. The three star bars and 149 beer and wine parlours closed  will be open soon. Five hotels applied for bar licensed will get bars once they get star classification . 283 bars are now running through the liquor policy of the LDF government. 60 of it was given nod by this government. There are 426 beer and wine parlours.
