Women excise Staff lodged complaint of sexual harrasement

Kozhikode : A group of women staff in the Excise Department has lodged a complaint of sexual and mental harassment against male colleagues including senior officials. The women officers submitted their complaint to the Excise Minister, State Human Rights Commission, Excise Commissioner and State Women’s Commission. The Excise Commissioner has sought a report over the complaint. All the Deputy Commissioners have been asked to file the  report  in three days.

In the complaint  submitted, the staff alleged that they are being neglected and treated like worms. The women lack toilets and rest rooms in range offices. In most places, they are forced to work along with male colleagues who consume liquor during working hours.Woman Staff are often summoned to offices during night time. However, they are not allowed to leave after work. In the complaint the women urged  the authorities not to neglect the complaint. They said they are afraid of losing job by revealing their names.

They also demanded establishment of women ranges offices under circle offices.There should be a system to resolve complaints of women officers. The final report on the complaint should be submitted by a woman itself, they urged in the complaint.

With the Dirty intentions, the women staff are being approached  by officials from Civil Excise officers to Deputy Excise Commissioners, they alleged. Those who obey their tortures are allowed to work peacefully. The Excise Department started to recruit women from 2014.
