Himachal Pradesh : 46 people were killed after a landslide triggered by a cloud burst swept away several vehicles and stretch of a busy highway in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and army dug through mounds of mud and stones to recover 46 bodies from the site, said Mandi deputy commissioner Sandeep Kadam. Rescuers pulled out 5 people alive from the rubble though 10 people are missing. The severely injured people were rushed to the zonal hospital at Mandi.
Apart from the 200-metre stretch of the Mandi-Pathankot highway, the landslide took place around 1.15 AM at kotrupi village. It washed away 2 buses of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), 2 cars and a motorcycle. 5 houses were also damaged.
