Thiruvananthapuram : The BJP is plagued by internal discordance over the issue of inviting Kerala Congress leader KM Mani into the NDA fold. BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan’s statement welcoming KM Mani into the NDA has escalated the differences in the party.
BJP national executive committee member V Muraleedharan, who said yesterday that there is nothing wrong in seeking the votes of even robbers, murderers and corrupt people during elections said today that corrupt persons will not be accommodated in NDA. He also said that there is no change in BJP’s stand towards KM Mani.
“Corrupt persons will not be accommodated in NDA.Kummanam had welcomed those who accept NDA’s stand.Hence,KM Mani will have to change his stand first,” Muraleedharan said. However, senior BJP leader PS Sreedharan Pillai, who is also the NDA candidate in Chengannur, has rejected Muraleedharan’s stand.
“Nobody is ‘untouchable’ in NDA.I do not hold the view that KM Mani is a robber. ‘Untouchability’ is a crime in politics. I differ from V Muraleedharan on this issue,” Sreedharan Pillai said.
