Man dies due to lack of oxygen in Ambulance in Thrissur.

Thrissur : A patient with breathing difficulties died while being taken to a private hospital in an ambulance, in which the oxygen cylinder reportedly  got exhausted during the  journey. The deceased is Kallathod Kerera Kaatil K K Sebastian (64) .Relatives of the patient allege that when the patient was shifted from the district hospital, the hospital authorities had removed the oxygen mask thinking the mask would be available in the ambulance. But unfortunately there was not enough oxygen  in the cylinder and within  2 kms of the  Journey, oxygen got exhausted. And the patient died.

Sebastian was admitted to the district hospital on Saturday and a decision to shift him to a private hospital was taken as there was no improvement in his health. He was taken in an ambulance belonging to the district hospital and the end came at 12 noon. A hospital staff was present  inside the ambulance.

Though the relatives and local people raised protest against the hospital , police tried to  pacify them. The local people lodged a complaint with the Thrissur east police seeking a probe into the incident. The district hospital superintendent Dr sreedevi said the allegations would be enquired.
