Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister A.K Saseendran declared that consortium of banks and Prof. Sushil Khanna committee have raise the retirement age of KSRTC employees. “The recommendation is under consideration of the government. A final decision on raising the pension age of KSRTC staff will be taken after detailed discussions,” said the minister. He noted that KSRTC can solve its financial crisis after receiving a loan of Rs 3100 crore from bank consortium. The banks will disburse the loan from April 3. “ At present, KSRTC need to fil the gap between its income and expenditure to solve the financial crisis” he added.
The government has appointed an expert committee headed by Prof. Sushil Khanna to tide over the crisis faced by KSRTC. Meanwhile the transport department failed to execute the recommendations put forward by the committee. Divide KSRTC into three zones, appoint management experts as heads, creation of pension fund, raise pension age etc were the major recommendations of the committee.
