Kochi : On the Occasion of Good Friday, Cardinal Mar George Alancherry has stated an indirect hint at the Syro- Malabar land controversy that surrounds him.Church laws should not be questioned using country’s law , he said. “It is the moral duty of every citizen to abide by the law of the county. But prominence should be given to God’s law. God’s law should not be assessed using country’s law. There are people in the church who are trying to rein in churches using orders. But, believers should give importance to church rules, he added. Alancherry had earlier said that Malabar land deal was a mistake that he happened to commit. But today during his discourse, he seemed to have something different in his mind. Meanwhile, his speech on the occasion of Good Friday was found to be contradictory in his apology over the alleged land scam.
