Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh police dropped sedition charges against 15 people who were arrested for celebrating Pakistan’s win against India during the ICC champions Trophy final on 18th June. The police have dropped sedition charges on directions from senior officials and have now booked the accused Burhanpur natives under section 153 A.
The police registered the case on a complaint by Subhash Laxman Koli and arrested the 15 persons, Sanjay Pathak, Shahpur police station in charge, said. The accused persons are aged between 19 and 35 years , under the IPC sections of 124-A (sedition) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy).
According to police, on Sunday night, these 15 shouted slogans in favour of Pakisthan and celebrated its cricket team’s win by bursting fire crackers and raising anti- India slogans.
