KOCHI : Kochi Corporation on Tuesday demolished the boat jetty and compound wall of the house built by actor Jayasurya on encroached government land at Chilavannur in Ernakulam. Thiruvananthapuram local tribunal had earlier rejected the petition filed by Jayasury against demolition of the illegal construction.

Based on the complaint given by public activist kalamassery native Gireesh, Thrissur vigilance court  had ordered a probe into the alleged land grab. According to his petition, Jayasurya had built a boat jetty, 3,000 Sq feet house with compound  walls by encroaching Chilavannur Backwater Puramboke. He had also flouted Municipal building rules and Coastal Zone regulation rules to build the above. Taluk surveyor had also found out that he ha encroached 3 cent 700 square links of backwater area. Following this, the Kochi Corporation on February 28,2014, ordered the demolition of the illegal construction with 14 days at the actor’s own expense. Later he also approached local tribunal against the  Kochi Corporation’s order but this was rejected.
