Turin: Reigning Champions League holders Real Madrid ousted Serie A Champions Juventus in the first leg of the UEFA Quarter Finals. The Spanish Giants travelled to Turin and within 3 minutes of kick off it was none other than the Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo who gave Madrid a lead from a sublime low cross from Isco who made it into the starting line up ahead of an inform Bale and Asensio. After the early goal, Juventus hoped to hurt their opposition with some swift plays and ball possession but couldn’t capitalize in the first half. In the 64th minute of the second half we witnessed one of the greatest Champions League goals ever when the 5 time Balon D’Or winner, Ronaldo produced a bicycle kick when the ball was a good two and a half meters in the air. The entire arena was shocked including the players and the manager of Real Madrid, the legendary Zinedine Zidane who is also well known or his amazing goal for the Los Blancos that earned them their 9th UEFA trophy. Even the Juventus fans applauded the goal and Ronaldo showed them a respectful courtesy. Things went from bad to worse as Juventus forward Dybala was shown a second yellow following his harsh challenge on Casemiro; in the first half he was booked for simulation in the penalty box. Following the Argentine’s departure ‘The All Whites’ capitalized again and this time the goal came from the feet of the Vice Captain, Marcelo.
Real ended the match with three away goals and it seems unlikely that the ‘fidanzata d'italia’ could turn things around in a week’s time when they head to the Santiago Bernabéu.
