Amid reports that the Congress had drafted an impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, senior party leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday told that the “issue has been closed.” There have been reports that an impeachment draft was readied against the CJI which the Congress and the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party have signed and many regional parties have been approached by the two for a consensus regarding the same.

However, there has been no update after the draft was signed. Kharge said that the issue is closed since the Congress ‘never initiated anything in the Parliament. “That issue is closed now. Because there is no question now. And we never initiated (it) in the Lower House. There was a talk in the Upper House, but I think that they have also not taken this issue… But as far as Lok Sabha is concerned, we never initiated anything".
