Bajrang wins his 1st CWG gold, India's 17th at CWG

Wrestler Bajrang Punia won his first Commonwealth Games gold medal, defeating Wales' Kane Charig by technical superiority in the men's freestyle 65 kg final in Gold Coast on Friday. This is India's fifth medal in wrestling in this edition, with Rahul Aware and Sushil Kumar registering gold wins earlier. Bajrang had won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. It was a runaway victory for Bajrang and coming on heels of the fine showing by Sushil Kumar on Thursday, the Indian camp rejoiced.Starting off with a fine first round win over Brahm Richards (New Zealand), Bajrang moved on defeating Amas Daniel (Nigeria) and Vincent de Marinis (Canada) in the next two before getting another first round decision in his favour in the final against Kane Charig of Wales.
