CCTV cameras to be installed in all station lockups

Thiruvananthapuram : The state police chief  DGP Loknath Behra had given orders to install CCTV cameras in within two days in all station lockups. The move is to following the controversies of the custodial death of varapuzha youth named sreejith. CCTV cameras would be installed in 471 police stations across the state. The order has also been given to link these cameras with the computers in the stations. The order has came into force on Friday itself. Permission has been given to station house officers buy and establish CCTV cameras. The order also states that the price bill of the camera to be sent to the SP office. Currently, CCTV cameras have been installed in lockups at 279 stations in the state. In Remaining 471 lockups, there should be install cameras as soon as possible, DGP says.
