Thiruvananthapuram : High waves that can leap up to 2.5 to 3 m are likely to occur along Kerala coast between April 21 and 22. It may be from 8.30 am of April 21st and 11.30 pm of April 22. The alert has been issued by the Indian Meteorological Department and the National Institute of Oceanography. Fisher men and locals residing along the coasts of Kollam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod should be vigilant, the authorities warned.
The waves can lash the coast forcefully during high tide. Boats should be anchored by keeping sufficient distance between them so as to avoid collision in case of turbulence. Tourists should keep off the seas during the period, the authorities advised.
