New Delhi : The Indian Defence Ministry, chaired by Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has approved the purchase of six AH-64 Apache attack helicopters from the U.S and thereby the nation moves closer to having its own dedicated fleet of attack helicopters. The total amount is roughly about Rs 4,700 Crore INR. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has also given oval for procuring two gas turbine engines from Ukraine, to befitted on the two stealth frigates under construction in Russia. The estimated cost for this is Rs 490 Crore INR.
