RICE                                                                                       

According to Ayurveda, rice is a cooling food.In Eastern India, cooked rice is soaked in water overnight to ferment, and then eaten in the morning after it’s tempered with onions and curry leaves. This is enjoyed in summer because it is said to prevent heat strokes and stomach ulcers. Even in the South, dahi-rice is a popular hot weather dish. These types of preparations keep the stomach cool and soothed.  The fibre in unpolished rice is a prebiotic, which serves as food for good bacteria. If you ferment it or add in a swirl of yoghurt, it gets a probiotic boost—a perfect combination for summer woes.

MANGO

In Ayurveda it is considered to have sheeta—meaning cooling—and laghu—meaning light—properties; therefore its a myth that it’s a heating fruit. The best way to eat a mango is to soak it in water for a minimum of 30 minutes before consumption. This removes any residues that may cause harm. Then you can squeeze, cut or mix it into smoothies. Mangoes have a lot of antioxidants, plus vitamins A,C, E, B6, magnesium, folic acid, polyphenols. It is also fat and cholesterol free, and contains a soluble fibre called pectin

WATER MELON

No summer food list can start without this amazing waterlicious summer fruit. Besides being the ultimate provider of water, this fruit has lycopene, which has the property of protecting skin from sun damage. Moreover, due to its high water content, it will keep you full for a long time.

YOGURT

During these sweaty days you can be cooled down by some yogurt.Yogurt is rich in protein that will also keep you full. Hence you won’t be looking for other unhealthy snacks to bite on.It is also known to have a great pro-biotic property that makes it super good for managing your digestive system.

TENDER COCONUT WATER

 It’s inexpensive and carries a powerhouse of nutritional benefits.It  has electrolytes that make it one of the best hydrating agents.Besides being an excellent cooling drink, it helps in reducing blood pressure level, provides anti-aging properties, acts as a natural diuretic besides being a refreshing summer drink.

CUCUMBER

    

Another inexpensive yet beneficial summer food is the refreshing vegetable, cucumber. This is probably the best vegetable to eat in summer. It works great for skin by helping in skin problems like dark circles, sunburns etc.It has silicon and sulfur that promotes hair growth, it also has a high water content that cleans bodies by removing toxins.Also, cucumbers are great for heart health due to its immune boosting and anti-inflammatory effects.
