With the World Cup 2018 just 9 days away let us check to see who the favorites are to win
I am sure many of you would have expected the ’La Albicelestes’ to be placed higher up the ranking but it needs to be said that Lionel Messi is still one man and his heroics can be brought to an end by a very experienced marker staying by his side for the full 90 minutes. The team offers a near unbelievable strike force with Aguero, Dybala, Higuain and Dimaria but as time have proven so many times before the Argentina is more of 11 individuals rather than 1 team.
The unlikely dark horses of the tournament. Position by position they have experienced all-star level players and they have two players that are at the prime of their career in Hazard and right behind him Debryune. Opposition teams will have a tough time to mark as they will always have game changers in Lukaku and Miralles as well.
Weakness: Lacks a smooth flowing team mentality
If yester years is anything to look forward to then it’s very likely that the current champions do not make it past the knockouts. Joachim Löw would be hoping to break that superstition. The array of talent that Germany has lined up has no ends with even PFA young player – Leroy Sane being dropped out of the 23 man squad.
Weakness: Overconfidence and Neuer not at 100%
The La Furia Roja comes to this competition fully prepared and have overcome their flaws during their last campaign. Spain has the right blend of experience and youth in their squad and will be hoping their passing game slices open the defense
Weakness: The tiki-taka style that Spain was famous for has been well learned by most teams and tacticians
The Samba Kings will have to forget their disastrous demise at the hands of Germany during the last campaign where they were demolished 7-1. Brazil always had immense talent in their squad and this time is no different. Their team chemistry is outstanding and everyone is family within the dressing room. They will be hoping to add a 6th star to their shirts
Weakness: individual showboating and increased attacking tendencies of the defenders
My money will be on the Les Bleus. France could have very easily played a final against their B team if such an audacity was allowed. They have individual talents capable of winning matches as well as a fluid team football. Their squad from back to front has no cracks and is a well-oiled machine. France could run a riot in this World Cup campaign if the opposition is not careful.
Weakness: Choking in the final matches
