Spain’s Real Madrid has always been known to acquire players who perform well in the World Cup. In the last edition they acquired the services of James Rodriguez (The golden boot winner) and Costa Rica’s Keylor Navas who displayed fine athletism between the sticks. This year, the thirteen time UEFA winners are in a predicament. While it’s true that a relatively unchanged squad has won four of the last five UEFA champions league that same squad is not getting any younger. Ronaldo, even though is not showing any signs of slowing down is 33 years old and irrespective of what he does and accomplishes in the field he is still human and Real cannot count on him to produce another 4 more years like before. Real Madrid president – Florentino Perez will be watching the matches rather closely but to his despair all the players that are performing well are already wearing the Real Madrid crest in their club. Ronaldo has scored 4 goals in just 2 matches. Modric is bossing the midfield. Nacho scored what could well be the best goal of the tournament; Kroos just scored a 95th minute winner for Germany and Navas continuous to impress everyone. Every Madrid fan would be boasting their players’ performance to their rival supporters but the club of the century that only allows the elites to wear their shirt will have a hard time finding suitable candidates this time around. Well we are still in the group stages and there is still plenty of time for new heroes to rise.
