Internet Ban from 12 am to 6 am for Teens under 17

The Malaysian government is considering banning Internet use for teens between 12 AM and 6 AM daily. The move aims at reducing video game and social media addiction among teens. "A Health and Morbidity studies conducted in 2017 indicated that around 34.9 per cent of Malaysian teens between the ages of 14 and 17 showed a 'prevalence towards Internet addiction', Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Cye is reported to have told the Parliament on Monday. Aside from government implemented curbs on the use of the Internet by teens during wee-hours, the Deputy Health Minister also added that certain gaming providers are taking upon themselves to restrict users under 17 from accessing their games for a duration of one to two hours.
