A 60-metre-tall wind turbine was blown over and uprooted by the strong winds brought by a cyclone in Japan last week. The structure in Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park was built in 2002 in memory of the Great Hanshin Earthquake which devastated parts of Hyogo prefecture in 1995. The turbine was pictured lying fragmented on its side with pieces littered across the road running alongside a park. Built in 2002, the turbine had been out of commission since May last year after being struck by lightning.
