After almost two decades out of action, a New York City subway station destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks has reopened. The station was buried under debris when the two World Trade Centre towers collapsed after hijackers crashed planes into them.

"It is more than a new subway station," New York City's Metropolitan Transportation Authority said.Unlike much of New York’s underground network, which is renowned for its griminess, the station is air conditioned to keep passengers cool.
