COVID-19 cases in India; death toll rises

The total number of coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu reached 13,191 after 743 new infections were reported, the state health department said on Wednesday. The death toll from coronavirus rose to 87 after three more fatalities were reported in Tamil Nadu today. Chennai recorded 557 new cases, taking the total in the district to 8,228.

Gujarat reported 398 new coronavirus cases, taking the total in the state to 12,539, the state health department said on Wednesday. The death toll rose to 749 after 30 more fatalities were reported. As many as 5,219 patients have recovered so far. Ahmedabad district recorded 271 new cases, taking the total in the district to 9,216 with 602 deaths.

Rajasthan on Wednesday reported 170 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 6,015, including 147 deaths. A total of 3,404 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Rajasthan and 3,000 have been discharged from the hospitals, leaving 2,464 active cases. Jaipur is the worst-hit district in the state with 1,665 cases and 73 deaths.

As many as 2,250 coronavirus cases were reported in Maharashtra today, taking the total number of cases in the state to 39,297. Further, 65 new deaths were reported today, while 679 coronavirus patients were discharged in the state. The total coronavirus death toll in Maharashtra stands at 1,390, while a total of 10,318 coronavirus patients have been discharged after recovery.
