New Delhi: The government has divided air routes into 7 categories based on flight durations for regulating fares till August 24. For a journey between 90-120 minutes, which includes the Delhi-Mumbai route, the minimum fare will be ₹3,500 and maximum ₹10,000. 40% of the tickets will have to be sold at a price less than the mid-point of the price band.
Also, Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the government doesn't plan to keep middle seats vacant for social distancing when flight operations resume from May 25. "Social distancing norms will anyway not be met by keeping middle seats vacant. We've other measures in place to prevent infection," said Puri. "We hope people will only travel when they're fit enough," he added.
Airline passengers who don't have the Aarogya Setu app need to give a declaration that they're not infected with COVID-19, an official order said. It also stated that passengers should be facilitated to go to a counter provided by the airport where the app can be downloaded. Passengers with "Red" status in the app would not be permitted to travel.
