As many as 3,041 coronavirus cases were reported in Maharashtra in last 24 hours, marking the first instance of the state reporting over 3,000 cases in a single day. With this, the total number of cases in the state rose to 50,231, of which 33,988 are active cases. A total of 14,600 coronavirus patients have been discharged in the state.
Chennai has recorded 587 new coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, taking total number of cases in Tamil Nadu's capital city to 10,576, said the state's health department on Sunday. Tamil Nadu overall recorded 765 new coronavirus cases, taking its COVID-19 tally to 16,277. Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 death toll rose to 111, with eight more dying in last 24 hours.
Karnataka has recorded 130 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases there to 2,089, said the state's health department on Sunday. The number of COVID-19 patients discharged in Karnataka rose to 654, with 46 more patients discharged in last 24 hours. Karnataka's COVID-19 death toll remained at 42 on Sunday.
Total number of coronavirus cases in Gujarat crossed 14,000 on Sunday, with over 390 new coronavirus cases recorded in the state in last 24 hours. Gujarat's coronavirus death toll climbed to 858 as 29 more people died of the virus in the last 24 hours. A total of 6,412 coronavirus patients have recovered in the state.
The number of coronavirus cases in Europe has crossed 20 lakh while the death toll stands at 1,73,133, according to an AFP tally. Russia is the worst-hit in the continent with over 3.35 lakh cases and 3,388 deaths. The UK has over 2.57 lakh cases with 36,675 deaths while Spain reported over 2.34 lakh cases and 28,628 deaths.
