Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan died of cardiac arrest early on Friday at the age of 71. She was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital in Mumbai last month for breathing problems. Earlier, one of her family members had said that she had tested negative for coronavirus. "May her loved ones find strength and courage," actress Nimrat Kaur tweeted.
Choreographer Saroj Khan, has been laid to rest at a cemetery in Mumbai's Malad. "We buried her at around 7 am," the late 71-year-old's daughter Sukaina Khan told PTI. Furthermore, Sukaina said that a prayer meet for her late mother will be held after three days.
Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan, began her career as a background dancer in the 1950s. The three-time National Award winner, also known as "Masterji", choreographed many dance sequences including 'Ek Do Teen', 'Hawa Hawai', 'Dola Re Dola' and 'Tamma Tamma'. She learnt to dance while working under film choreographer B Sohanlal.
Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Kunal Kohli, Sunil Grover and Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri took to Twitter to condole the demise of choreographer Saroj Khan, who passed away on Friday due to cardiac arrest. "Hindi Cinema has lost its adaa (grace)," Kunal tweeted. "#SarojKhan ji...made dance look easy...a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace," wrote Akshay.
