Pakistan has admitted underworld don and 1993 Mumbai bomb blasts accused Dawood Ibrahim is in Karachi as it imposed financial sanctions on 88 banned terror groups and their leaders. Jamaat-ud-Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar have also been sanctioned. Pakistan imposed the sanctions as it seeks to avoid getting blacklisted by the FATF for financing terrorism.
The Pakistan government imposed sanctions on 88 terrorists earlier this week, in compliance with the new terror list issued by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) recently, local media reported on Saturday. The list included 26/11 Mumbai attacks masterminds Hafiz Saeed and Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar, and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, among others.
