New Delhi: During his address to the nation on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the lockdown may have been called off but coronavirus still remains. He added, "We must not let the situation worsen during the festival season." He further said, "There should not be any laxity until the vaccine comes."
Modi said the government is working on a mechanism to ensure coronavirus vaccine reaches each and every citizen as soon as a successful vaccine is developed. The PM further said that many potential COVID-19 vaccines are being developed in India and some of them are even in advanced stages.
Narendra Modi folded his hands and requested citizens to wear a mask and follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
"I request to all of you, I want to see all of you safe and your families happy. I want to see festivals bring cheer to your lives," said PM.
PM Modi also cautioned people that it is not the time to assume that the coronavirus is gone or there is no danger from the virus anymore. "Our doctors, nurses, health workers are selflessly serving such a large population. Amidst all these efforts, this is not the time to be careless," he stated.
