Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday announced a public holiday tomorrow in 13 districts in the state in view of Cyclone Nivar. Chennai, Vellore, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Chengalpet, Kancheepuram, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai are among the 13 districts. Meanwhile, Southern Railway has cancelled some trains and also announced train diversions.
Cyclone Nivar may make landfall after 2 am on November 26: NDRF chief
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Director General SN Pradhan said that Cyclone Nivar might make landfall after 2 am on November 26. "Over 1 lakh people have been evacuated across Tamil Nadu and more than 1,000 people have been evacuated in Puducherry," ANI quoted him as saying. Cyclone Nivar has intensified into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’.
