Former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid's father Abdul Rashid Shora wrote to J&K DGP Dilbag Singh alleging that her daughter took ₹3 crore to join Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM). He cited a "threat to his life" from his daughters and wife, and also alleged they were carrying out "anti-national" activities. Shora sought security cover from the police.
After Shehla Rashid's father alleged that she, her sister and mother were involved in "anti-national" activities, the former student leader said he's a "wife-beater and an abusive, depraved man." She said a court restrained him from entering his house following a domestic violence complaint. "We decided to act against him, and this stunt is a reaction to that," she said.
