NewDelhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday said that the farmers' unions should tell whatever they want to add or subtract from the Centre's proposal to the government.
He said, "I'm hopeful that farmers' unions will discuss our request." He added, "We're ready for a discussion at the time and date of their convenience. I'm hopeful of a solution."
5 TMC MPs meet farmers on relay hunger strike at Singhu border
Five TMC MPs on Wednesday met protesting farmers sitting on relay hunger strike at Singhu border near Delhi. The five MPs included Derek O'Brien, Satabdi Roy, Prasun Banerjee, Pratima Mondal and Md Nadimul Haque. TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also spoke to protesting farmers over the phone and assured them of her full support.
Protests should not paralyse people's normal lives: FICCI Chief
FICCI Chairman Uday Shankar, while answering a question on the ongoing farmers' protests, said somebody’s protest should not paralyse other people’s normal life. He said "the right to protest must be exercised to resolve a problem" and that there is a need to have a dialogue in a constructive framework. "India is a very heterogeneous democracy," Shankar added.
62-yr-old woman drives Jeep from Punjab to join farmers' protest in Delhi, pic viral
Manjeet Kaur, a 62-year-old woman, from Punjab's Patiala drove from her home to join farmers' protest at Delhi's Singhu border. The picture of Manjeet Kaur, who is accompanied by other women in the jeep, has gone viral on social media. Reacting to the picture, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh tweeted, "Baba karu kirpa" while actress Taapsee Pannu wrote, "Chakk de phatte!"
