Japan to ban entry of foreigners to control new virus strain's spread

Japan has said it will temporarily ban non-resident foreign nationals from entering the country after it reported cases of the new coronavirus variant detected in the UK. The ban will be effective from December 28 and will run through January. Japanese citizens and foreign residents can enter by showing proof of a negative test 72 hours before departing for Japan.
