The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) warned advertisers that claim efficacy of products in protecting consumers from COVID-19 without scientific proof will be penalised. "False claims are made to mislead consumers for...products by taking advantage of the ongoing pandemic situation," it said. Such advertisers will be liable for up to 2 years in jail or ₹10 lakh fine, it added.
