Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala C M Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday stated that imposing a complete lockdown to curb covid spread is not practical in the state. He also criticised the ward level councils over lapses in containing the covid spread. He also pointed out the serious negligence in managing the situation.

CM also pointed out that the CFLTCs are also inactive in many places and the government will help the local bodies if they have financial difficulties in managing the CFLTCS. CM also directed to ensure participation of police in the ward level committees.

"Covid spread should be brought under control within two weeks and effort should be taken to bring significant reduction in the number of patients," he said. And he also said that "People who are supposed to be in quarantine are freely roaming outside. Therefore it is necessary to form monitoring committees in the neighbourhood to observe quarantined people. If anyone found violating quarantine norms, they should be fined and placed in special quarantine centres. They should be made to pay the expense for their quarantine centres as well," the chief minister said.
