People across the state are celebrating 'Vijayadashami', one of the most significant festivals in India, on Friday. On this auspicious day, children are introduced to the world of letters during a special 'vidyarambham' ritual in temples and other cultural centres from early morning.

However, strict restrictions have been imposed this year to ensure safety in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. People are urged to hold the ritual at homes and public ceremonies have been curtailed.

Strict restrictions are in place at Kollur Mookambika Devi Temple too as thousands of Keralites visit here on this day. There has been a rush of devotees from early morning on Friday. To avoid crowds, only parents of children are allowed to enter for the rituals at Kollur temple. RT-PCR negative certificate obtained within 72 hours has also been made mandatory for devotees from Kerala.
