Thiruvananthapuram: Favouring the move that handed over Thiruvananthapuram International Airport to Adani Group, Suresh Gopi MP has said passengers can expect better amenities with the change.
"People can criticise the change by terming it a bad deal. But it is not true. The operation of the airport has been handed over for a particular period. Let people have better amenities through the deal," said Suresh Gopi. He was speaking to media persons in Thiruvananthapuram. He also said that the airport in Thiruvananthapuram should rise to the standards of Mumbai and Delhi airports. "With this change, I wish to have modifications in the airport to make passengers more comfortable," he added.
He also asked, who can ensure better passengers amenities at an airport. "The concerned people could not ensure it so far. Let it happen through this change. For three months, after the airport became operational following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, Emirates and Etihad airlines were hesitant to fly to the airport. The airport was established by Colonel Godarama Raja in 1932. Tata Sons then asked whether this would be profitable or not. The answer was, 'loss we can manage'. This was the guts of people behind it," added Suresh Gopi.
