Kochi: Kochi City Police has arrested a congress activist for allegedly vandalising actor Joju George's car on Monday. Joseph, a Vytilla native, allegedly destroyed the car's rear window after the actor questioned the congress leaders for staging a protest against the fuel price hike by blocking the road.
Meanwhile, Joseph's right arm was also injured when he smashed the car's rear window. Later, he was moved to a hideout without even seeking treatment at the hospital. The police received information about Joseph after examining the video footage from the scene. They also collected blood samples to identify the person behind the attack.
Earlier, the FIR filed by the police booked 15 congress leaders for their involvement with the case and pointed out that the protest was held without taking prior permission from the authorities.
According to the police FIR, the car has suffered damage worth Rs 6 lakh. Earlier, the city police commissioner had assured that the accused in the case would be arrested soon.
Currently, Joseph is being questioned in detail by police. Seven people have been booked in connection with the attack on the actor. A case under non-bailable charges was registered against former Kochi mayor Tony Chammany, the prime accused in the case.
