Kochi: Congress has decided to take initiative to settle issues between the party and actor Joju George over a ruckus during the fuel price rally. DCC president Mohammed Shiyas informed that Joju's friends held talks with Congress leaders and both parties expressed willingness to settle the issue.
Mohammed Shiyas stated that the actor and the party members were provoked resulting in the verbal spat.
On Monday, Congress staged a protest against fuel price hike by laying a siege on the road stretching from Edappally to Vyttila. As the protest created a traffic block, actor Joju George was stuck and questioned the workers. Following this, some of the Congress members vandalised his car and hurled abusive language against him. They also filed a complaint against the actor alleging he misbehaved with women workers. But police dismissed the complaint due to lack of evidence. Meanwhile, police booked 15 Congress leaders, including former mayor Tony Chammani, and 50 activists over Joju's complaint. It is reported that the leaders are absconding.
In the wake of the issue, Ernakulam DCC president revealed plans to settle the issue. Ernakulam MP Hibi Eden and many other leaders have also intervened.
