Thiruvananthapuram: Eighth class students in the state will have to go to school from Monday onwards, informed Public Education Secretary APM Mohammad Hanish IAS. The Director of General Education recommended to the Government in this regard.

Earlier, it was decided that eighth graders need to return to schools from November 15. However, after the regular classes started for other grades, the director found a favourable atmosphere in schools and recommended reopening of eighth class by Monday.

The Director of Education has recommended reopening of eighth class prior to the visit of the National Achievement Survey, which is being conducted on the 12th of this month to assess students' learning and academic performance. The survey of the ministry is focusing on classes 3, 5 and 8. If the reopening is delayed, it is likely to be excluded from this national-level survey of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Plus one and classes IX will start from November 15.
